GABRIELLE - A 3 YR OLD FIGHER

I (Pastor Nerelus) met Gabrielle, her twin sister Gabriella and their young single mother on one of our mission trips on October 6, 2007. The girls were just two weeks old. The mom was anemic with no way of supporting them. They were sick and crying on their way to Port-au-Prince. We helped their mom and promised to support them. On November 2008 in an interview with the Huntsville Times, I told the reporter that the girls were wonderful and that “when they turn 3, we will pay for their schooling. This is a very good story. It is a happy story, and we want to make more happy stories.”

The stories do not always end as we expect them but God is always good faithful. After 8 hours under a collapsed house, the girls were rescued. Unfortunately, a day later Gabriella died most likely from lack of medical assistance.

When I met the father in January, I offered to move them to Gonaives and help them. He declined it and said if he will stay in Port au Prince. On our last trip in September, we learned that Gabrielle's dad passed away in tent city from a brain hemorrhage.

When I met Gabrielle this time, I got so moved. She recognized me very well. She jumped on me. Her aunt said she asks for her friends (HERO team) everyday. We're basically the only family she has. I didn't want to let go. She waved good bye.

She begins preschool this October. God is with her. She is a fighter. But I really don't feel she is safe in Haiti. I already have our team check out the process for adoption. It was heartbreaking enough when I learned that her sister Gabriella didn't make it. Now her dad is gone. I cannot imagine the agony and trauma she must be going through. Help us create a safer and better life and environment for her.

Love – an Action Word

We are currently working on funding to build a “Gabrielle and Gabriella Orphanage” and a Community and Social Development Center. We need your help to maintain our radio station which broadcasts in Haitian Creole, French, teaches English and provides information, education, and counseling to the population still traumatized by the earthquake.

Thank you for being part of the sacrificial giving which goes to restore and heal the land of Haiti. A donation of any amount will bring us steps closer to fulfill our mission.

Click here and make a donation today. Thank you!

On behalf of Haiti’s Children, HERO thanks you.

May God continue to bless you!
